70 years on: Coup that deposed Mossadegh and changed Iran's destiny

In 1908, two Englishmen discovered the enormous oil reserves of the kingdom of Iran. "We shall float on dollops of oil" they reported to Britain. And so they did. USA and Britain established the Anglo-American Oil Company and began to plunder more thoroughly than any invader of the past.

The article is about Robert Oppenheimar and his creation of the atom bomb. The quotation, "Science without conscience is the ruin of the Soul" was not coined by a pious Oriental mystic. It was composed by Francois Rabelais, a famous 16th century writer of the French Renaissance.

A turning point in Afghanistan's destiny - The Sunday Guardian

Fifty years ago in the summer of 1973, Mohammed Zahir Shah, King of Afghanistan, went to Rome for eye surgery. He and Queen Humaira along with their entourage set up residence in a large villa in Olgiata, a stylish suburb of Rome. In his absence the King's cousin Prince Dawood staged a coup that led to another coup and eventually to Soviet intervention to halt the chaos in Afghanistan.

Enemies Make Poor Historian

What is history? The Sanskrit word Itihasa means a story that narrates events of the past in the land of India. The Greek word historia means enquiry into events and knowledge. The word "chronicle" (from the Greek word "chronos" or time) means recording of time. Enemies cannot write impartially about makers of events.
